Society for Rural Industrialisation was registered in 1984 under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 by a group of scientist, engineer and senior government functionary to respond to the increasing demand for alternative development system.
Absence of Science & Technology backup in rural lives and shortage of skilled manpower for socio-economic development was a big challenge to this group. This mandated SRI to carry out rural development activities through Scientific and Technological intervention. SRI adopted a philosophy of working, terming it “Philosophy of 3 Cs”- Competence, Confidence and Comprehension.
SRI initiated training of tribal youth in different skill. Through these trainees technology infusion was initiated in rural areas.

Technology for the people – SRI shall work so that every citizen will have access to knowledge and to learn the skill for using the knowledge in ones own socio-economic situation.
