Integrated Rural Technology Centre was established under the charitable societies Act XII of 1995. Its mission is to develop and adopt technologies and to diffuse the same to benefit the rural people, work out local level development plans, promote inventiveness, promote human resources, give due importance for research and training, encourage young scientists and innovators, function as a non-profit sharing organization and to work in close rapport with the Kerala Sasthra Sahitya Parishad (KSSP) the parent organization. It is located at Mundur Panchayath of Palakkad district, Kerala. The organization, since its inception had been concentrating on taking up technologies which are of immediate relevance and significance to the rural poor. In the initial stages of this organization, IRTC was supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST). Govt. of India. The major activities during the last 10 years are soap making, mushroom cultivation, rabbit rearing, watershed development, solid waste management and studio pottery.
