BOTANICAL PESTICIDES AND PLANT TONICS

Botanical pesticides and plant tonics are plant extract based agricultural inputs used as

alternatives to synthetic chemicals in organic cultivation. In an effort to promote sustainable

agricultural practices, the technical know-how of a series of plant based products are being

popularized among the rural farming community of Wayanad district, Kerala.

Garlic mixture Garlic, Ginger, Bird eye chilli Pesticide for stem borer

Bael fruit mixture Bael fruit, Turmeric Pesticide for thrips

Annona –cow urine mixture Annona/Datura, Cow - urine Pesticide for Root grubs

Neem seed mixture Neem Pesticide for fruit borer

Kiriyath emulsion Kiriyath Pesticide for white fly and leaf thrips

Marigold emulsion Marigold Pod borer

Leaf decoction Calotropis, Strichnos, Datura, Basil,

Aloe, Neem, Cow-urine, Plectranthus
