A Enriched nutritional Supplement was formulated and developed by Society for Energy, Environment & Development (SEED), Hyderabad to provide supplemental Protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Iron and Calcium to school going children of 6 to 16 years using solar processed natural foods to increase the bio availability of vital nutrients for the target group. A number of natural foods such as malted Ragi, defatted soy flour, carrot powder, tomato powder, amla powder, skimmed milk powder, cashew nuts & sugar based nutritional supplement was developed to provide supplemental Protein, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Iron and Calcium to school going children of 6 to 16 years. The Nutritional supplement contains ingredients that are common to natural foods. These ingredients are primarily processed using solar food processing technology. Malted ragi flour was selected to provide good quantities of natural Calcium and Iron. Carrot powder and tomato powder were selected to provide good amount of natural vitamin A to the beneficiaries. This nutritional supplement will be provided to the school children during the mid-day-meal as a beverage. This nutritional mix can be supplementary drink and also improving the health and nutritional status of the beneficiaries.
The Nutritive drink was served to 200 students of Smt. Mallavarapu Seetamma Zilla Parishad High School, Tolukatta Village, Ranga Reddy District, Moinabad Mandal, Telangana State for evaluation of efficacy and acceptance of Nutritive Drink developed by SEED. Consequent on the successful implementation of Nutritive Drink in Tolukatta Village, Ranga Reddy District it was extended to Mathru Educational Trust for the Blind sponsored by Centum Rakon Industries Pvt. Ltd, Bengaluru for Three years. Enriched Nutritional Supplementary Drink is being supplied to 100 school children of Mathru Educational Trust for the Blind. The Drink is being served from 21st July, 2014 onwards.
