MCRC is promoting sustainable agriculture by encouraging farmers and landowners to cultivate medicinal plants that are abundant in their regions. This initiative ensures a sufficient supply of valuable herbs while also generating profit. One of the highlighted plants is Gymnema sylvestris, an antidiabetic herb that MCRC has successfully promoted in farmers’ fields in Panrutti, helping them connect with market opportunities. Additionally, we have optimized hydroponic systems for cultivating both Justicia gendarussa and Gymnema sylvestris. This innovative method allows for large-scale production in a short time frame while significantly reducing land usage. By growing these plants in controlled environments, farmers can minimize pest and disease issues, leading to healthier crops and higher yields. Moreover, awareness and support are provided to tribal people to cultivate medicinal plants and herbal plants in the small land they own as community and market it together in nearby city.
