Water filtration and vending machine (2018-2019) Phase I
Water filtration and vending machine (2018-2019) Phase I Water filtration and vending machine (2018-2019) Phase I

Most Rural villages still find it difficult to access clean potable water. Our solution works on two main aspects, first to provide potable water, and second would be to make it accessible for people from all walks of life. The solution would be a solar operated water vending machine. The whole setup involves a solar powered water desalination device with the option to provide water when paid for (similar to an ATM machine). As the available water sources are contaminated with in-sufficient potable water, a technology intervention is necessary for the people to have access to safe drinking water.

In phase 1 of this project survey, water testing, location finalization and prototyping of solar powered water vending machine are planned. Project survey is done in 5 villages in each state. In all these villages people access drinking water from tube wells, wells and river. In Baran district, Rajasthan test results of water sources showed they have good potable water which requires only basic filtration. In West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand tube well water from some sources is found in reddish brown color which need to be tested to finalize the filtration technique. In Surguja district, Chhattisgarh dirty water is found in some drinking water sources which need to be tested to finalize the filtration technique.
