The Integrated Solar Micro Hydel Pumped Storage Power Plant, established at the Foundation for Environment and Economic Development Services (FEEDS) in Hengbung village, Manipur, aims to provide sustainable electricity to address erratic power supply in this tribal community. Located at latitude 25°13.8'N and longitude 93°59.8'E, the facility features two water storage reservoirs (upper: 3,436 m³, lower: 1,961 m³), a powerhouse with a propeller turbine connected to a 12 kW alternator, and a 40 kW solar PV array consisting of 120 solar panels. Water flows from the river into the upper reservoir, then through two penstock pipes to the turbine, generating electricity before returning to the lower reservoir. This system not only delivers power during load shedding hours to improve livelihoods but also contributes to the Prime Minister's COP26 commitment for 500 GW of non-fossil power generation by 2030.
