Farmers in the area grow vegetables that creep over the soil, such as sponge gourd and bottle gourd, but these crops do not survive due to excess water and humidity in the soil. Farmers have adopted an innovative technique of growing creeping vegetables by using thermocol boxes and jute bags to raise climber crops such as bottle gourd and sponge gourd. The boxes or bags are filled with soil and manure and the vegetable seeds are sown in them. The climbers are supported by wooden sticks as they grow.
